Why a NAPS Nurse vs. other service providers?

We’ve done this with so much love for over 11 years! All of our 35+ RNs have been educated via nursing school clinicals and/or worked on Labor and Delivery, in NICUs, or on postpartum floors at the hospital. Further, our team is provided extensive NAPS training, on-site shadowing, and continued education lead by senior nurses with specialties that include: Certification in Perinatal Mental Health, Certification in Oral Rehab Therapy, International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) education, pediatric dietitian, holistic sleep training programming, etc. All nurses are certified in BLS (Basic Life Support - CPR, choking, and first aid).

Our overnight visits may end in the morning but our nurses ensure you are supported throughout your day with connections to finding community, mental health support, lactation support, and more

“It gave us such peace of mind.”

I want to highlight the incredible service, character, and personality of everyone who came into our house. Every nurse was driven, professional, confident, well educated, in full control, and knowledgeable about all aspects of babies. It gave us such peace of mind. It also gave us a chance to ask those dumb questions we had stored up to a real nurse (like when our baby had delayed drop-off of the umbilical cord and it was freaking us out!).

Overnight Nursing Care

The main purpose of night nursing care is to promote good eating and good sleep - whatever that looks like to parent and baby (0-6+ months).

Typically, shifts start between 8-11 pm and last 8-10 hours, depending on your needs. Our nurses can bring the baby to your bed to breastfeed, use bottles, combo-feed, or facilitate any option you prefer. NAPS nurses swaddle, change, and stay awake with your baby so you can get a solid night of sleep. They also help with directly applicable things like cleaning pump parts, baby laundry, or laying out formula/breast milk for the following day.

All of our nurses are trained in healthy newborn eating and sleeping habits. While our short-term goal is to provide parents with rest, we also focus on helping families improve sleep over a few weeks. Our nurses create a plan for getting your baby to sleep for longer stretches at night, eliminating your need for overnight support.

Daytime Nursing Care

We offer daytime shifts so you can comfortably leave your infant to run errands, get some rest, or simply for some alone time around the house. This is also a great opportunity to interact more with your nurse to ask questions, learn about soothing techniques, your personal recovery, swaddling, and so much more.

We teach you about daytime schedules and routines, developmental milestones and activities, soothing techniques, bathing…you name it, our nurses have seen it and can support you!

Get Started

We always begin with a 30-minute phone call with clients interested in daytime or overnight nursing support. It allows us to better understand your specific needs and recommend the best format, nursing team member and services for you and your baby. Please schedule your introductory call with us below, and the NAPS staff member will call you then. If you do not see a date and time that works for you, please e-mail us here.

Frequently Asked Questions…

  • While most of our clients are in Boston or within a 20 mile radius of Boston, our nurses are certified in MA and can travel anywhere within the state - pending availability and location. oes here

  • Yes, we absolutely do and will outline options on our call.

  • The sooner you can reach out during your pregnancy, the more likely we can guarantee you care. We are always here to take last minute requests and will help if we have availability or can make availability!

  • Our client support staff (wait until you meet Kate, she is the best!)…is tuned into our clients and nurses in order to match clients based on exact needs, preferences, and location. Depending on your cadence of care, we are likely to provide continuity of a nurse to your home.

  • Yes, two amazing people! Kate, our director of client services and your dedicated care manager. As well as our pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Ellen! Ellen is the sleep guru and your weekly touchpoint to troubleshoot literally anything to do with your baby.

  • Our patients are baby and mom. If you and your partner want to go out on a date night, that is fine as long as the baby is the only child in the home (aka we do not care for toddlers).

We are dog/cat friendly and our nurses can be in the home with animals; however, there is no expectation to take the animals out or feed them.
