Whether you welcomed your first baby, you’re an experienced parent, or you’re now just being discharged home from a NICU stay - all parents deserve better care than what is offered to you through our current healthcare system.

We know that you are going through all of the emotions as you welcome your baby home, and likely have tons of questions. Which is why this visit is provided by an experienced Registered Nurse. This nurse will check in on the baby, on the birthing mother, and the family as a whole. She will listen to your questions and concerns, and thoughtfully break down the answers in a way that is manageable and digestible - a service we all deserve but don't always receive as parents.

This visit is perfect for parents from 2 days post birth to 2 months or after welcoming baby home from a NICU stay.

What can I expect from my visit with a NAPS Registered Nurse?

This 4 hour, in-home comprehensive visit covers all aspects of postpartum care for mom and baby. We also include other family members who want to learn more on newborn education and care for your baby. Included in the visit is:

  • A health history and wellness check for mom, including screening for postpartum depression and anxiety

  • A weight check and assessment of your newborn

  • Establishment of a feeding schedule that is inclusive of breastfeeding, pumping, bottle feeding and formula feeding

  • Setting up a schedule with your newborn and learning how to maximize sleep

  • Hands on education for your newborn including their first bath at home, umbilical cord care, circumcision care, and filing their nails for the first time

  • Practicing soothing techniques (on your real, crying baby!)

  • Reviewing all aspects of safety with all family members present for the visit

Cost: $499*

The visit includes educational notes for parents, a full assessment and note of mom and baby that will be sent to your providers (OB and Pediatrician - hello continuity of care!) and 2 weeks access to Nurture by NAPS, our online digital parenting program.

*A detailed invoice will be provided in case you wish to contact your insurance provider so if this visit is eligible for reimbursement.

Frequently Asked Questions…

  • While most of our clients are in Boston or within a 20 mile radius of Boston, our nurses are certified and licensed in MA and can travel anywhere within the state - pending availability and location.

  • All members of our NAPS team are Registered Nurses, licensed in MA and employees of our company. Our RNs have extensive experience in caring for mothers and babies. Day of discharge RNs also have experience with high risk babies coming out of the NICU, or Children’s Hospital with a more complicated medical history.

  • In short, this visit is more comprehensive, and focuses on your specific questions and concerns about all things mom and baby (like diapering, bathing, feedings, bottles, pumping, normal behaviors, postpartum bleeding, medications, etc.), not just feeding. This visit also includes wellness check for mom and baby.

    Should you need further assistance and follow-up with feeding your baby, a lactation consultation can be booked or may even be recommended by the nurse. Lactation consultations are often reimbursed by insurance, learn more on our lactation consultation page.

  • This is a one time visit that last for 4 hours and costs $499.00. Clients can book and pay for the service directly on our website. While NAPS does not work with insurance companies directly, we will provide a detailed invoice with all required information should you wish to submit this to your insurance company for reimbursement. NAPS is a private nursing company and does not bill to your insurance directly.
