Perhaps you are searching for breastfeeding support or guidance on how to pump, supplement with formula, or address any small or large feeding issues in general. You’re in the right place because at NAPS, lactation support doesn’t just mean just one thing. Our nurses also support pump setup, bottle/formula feeding, breastfeeding, soothing techniques, sleep advice, or a combo of them all. Read on for our 5 key take-aways to help you decide if our services are right for you.

  • Our team is unlike any other in that we are a team of Lactation Consultants (CLCs / IBCLCs) who are also Registered Nurses…that is not the norm to be both a RN and CLC or IBCLC. This means we can address more issues than just feeding concerns, and also have the medical background and training to address any underlying medical concerns for both you and your baby.

  • An initial consultation is booked as a 2 hour appointment and is $349. Most insurance companies provide reimbursement for lactation consultations. Or if you have a Health Savings Account (HSA) or FSA (Flexible Spending Account) lactation consults are also often a qualified expense. While we do not bill your insurance directly, we advice you to call yours to check eligibility! We’ll provide you a bill/receipt to submit to insurance to be reimbursed.

  • We respond to requests within 24 hours Monday-Friday, and within 48 hours on the weekends. From the time we receive a request, we typically book the appointment within 2-3 days.

  • We start with addressing your immediate needs and concerns for however you are choosing to feed your baby. We listen to you first, hear about your troubles and goals, observe a feeding session, and then provide advice, feedback, and a plan based on what we see, what you have told us, and your overall goals for feeding. If time allows, we can also discuss additional topics like pumping, sleep, baby wearing, safe milk storage, soothing your baby, etc or these things plus assessing your plan or addressing additional feeding concerns can happen during a follow up appointment.

  • In your home (for MA residents) or virtually!

“This lactation visit is a doubly amazing offering…it’s in-home AND a well-rounded nurse is working with you! I booked a lactation visit right after giving birth. I am thankful we did because our baby had a nose blockage issue. Our NAPS lactation lead helped us navigate this medical issue - all while teaching me how to use my pump, how to feed a bottle (to get more sleep, my husband learned too!) As a sleep-deprived new mom, someone coming to your house to be this kind of resource is invaluable. Lastly, thanks to the easy process of invoicing and getting a receipt, I was able to get everything (I did 4 visits) reimbursed by my insurance.  I didn’t even realize that I’d get free access to Nurture - where we took the CPR class and accessed other services. I recommend this service to any expecting or new mom!” - Mary G.

"Trust me - set up a home lactation visit as soon as you give birth, it pays to be prepared! As a first time Mom, giving birth and the hospital environment is quite overwhelming. You have just had the happiest moment of your life occur by delivering a child, but you are also exhausted and it is tough to take advantage of the lactation services that come through the hospital. I had 3 stop by during my hospital stay. I didn’t find the teaching style helpful, nor did I feel I was in a mental space to retain this information with a brand new baby. I also highly recommend calling your insurance to see what services are covered. I was pleasantly surprised that my plan covered 100% of unlimited visits…needless to say, I took full advantage and booked a ton of visits for lactation to ensure I was on a strong path forward. Get the help you deserve, you'll be so happy you did!” - Alesandra L.
