What’s the deal? At NAPS, you know we are about empowerment, not fear mongering. Labor and Delivery prep classes sometimes give too little (oh, sounds easy) or too much (ah, scary) information. Out of the thousands of parents we have worked with, the majority of moms have had some kind of debrief with us after birth saying “I still don’t understand what exactly happened when…” or “I am still a bit traumatized by this thing that happened”... And we have no doubt you have heard some of the good (but probably not that much), the bad (probably a lot) and the ugly when it comes to birth stories.
How can we help? These statements and stories are VALID. You know what else is valid? Taking an (easy) step to inform yourself of the possible scenarios you could encounter in labor. As former labor and delivery nurses, and two moms who have birthed 6 kids between the two of us, there truly isn’t anything we haven’t seen. And even we had moments of feeling anxious or overwhelmed during our pregnancies, deliveries, and postpartum. But what we also know is that knowledge given to you in an approachable, easy to understand, evidence-based and non fear based way, is power. And what we want you to take away from this, is feeling informed, empowered, and confident going into your experience which in turn will make you feel less anxious and scared.

We will cover how you and your partner can be a present decision maker during this process and help you better understand your options and how to cultivate a conversation with your provider.
